Honey is a natural antibacterial so it works great for acne treatment and prevention, it is also full of antioxidants that help slow the skin’s aging process and last but not least it’s very soothing and moisturizing. But if honey has been a well known ingredient in beauty products for thousands of years (think Cleopatra and her milk and honey baths), oats on the other hand have been only seen as a great breakfast choice until now . Not any more ! Oats contain polysaccharides, which become gelatinous in water and form a protective film on the skin that helps retain moisture and get rid of the itchy dryness we have to deal with this time of the year. Recent studies have proved that oatmeal improves collagen deposition in the skin cells.
So what do you need for The Honey-Oatmeal Face Scrub ?
- 1 1/2 tablespoons oatmeal
- 1 tablespoon hot water
- 1 tablespoon honey
First you need to pour the oatmeal in a clean bowl and add the water in order to form a thick paste. The oatmeal should become softer but not too soft as the scrub is meant to rid you of dead skin cells . When the water you put into the bowl has cooled a little you can add the honey and use the scrub you obtained on your face and neck . The quantities can be increased if you would like to also pamper your chest and arms. Rinse with cold water and enjoy soft and glowing skin.
