The way our hands look is very important. After all, hands are the second most seen/touched part of our body. Therefore, having beautiful skin and nails is very important when we want to make a good first impression. I’ll present you the tips I have for each of these categories sooo.. let’s start!
Here you can have different kinds of problems: if you usually use nail polish, your nails may have gotten yellow-ish or weak, and if you’re not, they might be exfoliating or breaking easily. Now, first thing’s first: use some acetone free nail polish remover and get rid of every product that you may have on your nails. Now, if you have your nails stained I’d suggest a mask – scrub that should help regain the natural healthy color: In a bowl put half a cup of hot water, 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Stir until the fizz is gone and put your nails in it for about 1 minute. Then, scrub your nails with the paste that will be at the bottom of the bowl. This is a bit harsh on your nails, so don’t forget to also do the next step.
If you don’t have stained nails you can go directly to this part. Get some oil (coconut, almond, argan – whichever you have around) and put it in the microwave for a few seconds. After it gets warm, put your nails in the oil and leave it like that for a few minutes (2-3 if you can). When you take them out massage the oil that’s on your fingers into your cuticles, and if you feel the need, also use an orange wood stick to push them and give them a round, pretty shape. This should help hydrating both your nails and your cuticles, so it’s a 2 in 1 solution!
For the skin that’s in your hands, the skincare steps are easy: clean, scrub (2 times/week) and hydrate & nourish (every day, at least twice). Seems easy, so what’s the catch? Well, if you don’t want brown spots and you wish to have young looking hands, you need to invest in a hand cream with SPF for the day. Remember that your hands are as exposed to the sun as it is your face, so treat them accordingly. If you already have some spots caused by the sun, you can always use an AHA body lotion on your hands at night, and the spots should fade quite soon. But the SPF protection is crucial.
If you promise to follow the advice I gave you, your hands should start looking better and better each day. Of course you can also put nail polish on if you please (but only after your nails are back to their normal color, ok?) – just don’t forget to use some clear nail polish before putting on color!
